CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Two people are in critical condition after a small plane crashed Monday evening.
Corpus Christi Crónica reports the plane, a 1966 Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee, is registered to Splendid Aviation-Victoria, which operates out of Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA).
Splendid Aviation-Victoria LLC is a flight academy that also operates out of the Victoria Regional Airport.
The plane went down as it approached CCIA along Highway 44 according to KIII.
The two occupants were then transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in critical condition. According to a post by the flight school on social media, the instructor and student were taken to San Antonio for specialized medical care.
Both the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the National Transportation Safety Board are aware of the crash and are expected to investigate.
