Former Texans WR Steven Sims Jr. to host FREE youth football camp

  • April 14, 2026

Houston – Houston native Steven Sims Jr. is proof that perseverance pays off. From going undrafted to carving out a career in the NFL, his journey hasn’t been easy. Now, he’s making sure the next generation doesn’t have to fight as hard just to be seen.

Through his Must See Foundation, Sims has already impacted more than 500 kids across Houston and beyond. The foundation focuses on giving young people access to mentorship, resources, and real opportunities through sports and education.

For Sims, giving back started early and is deeply personal. He shared that both of his grandmothers battled breast cancer, something that shaped how he uses his platform today. Even as a student-athlete, he found ways to stand up and show support, carrying that same passion into his work off the field.

Growing up, Sims said he often felt overlooked despite his talent. As an undersized player without major offers, he had to work harder than most just to get noticed. That underdog mindset now fuels his mission to help young athletes feel seen and valued.

That mission comes to life through events like the Must See Classic, a co-ed flag football game featuring NFL players and community leaders. Proceeds go directly toward funding the foundation’s free summer football camp, which gives kids hands-on coaching and the chance to connect with mentors who look like them and understand their journey.

Sims said those face-to-face moments matter most. Whether it’s a conversation, a high-five, or simply being present, he believes showing up can make a lasting impact on a young person’s life.

For families looking to get involved, there are several ways to participate. You can attend the Must See Classic, register for the free summer camp, or support the foundation’s goal of reaching the next 500 kids.
