BELLAIRE, Texas (KTRK) — A Bellaire Police Department officer has been placed on administrative leave following an alleged domestic assault on a family member, according to officials.
According to Brazoria County jail records, Sergeant Nathenael Rios is in custody and has been charged with assault causing bodily injury-family violence.
Bellaire PD confirmed that Rios’ arrest occurred while off duty. He is employed by the city and has also been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation, which will be handled by an external agency, officials said.
The department recently dealt with the fallout from its police chief’s retirement in December 2025, following an internal investigation that placed him on administrative leave for several weeks.

The investigation was conducted due to an internal employment matter.
