ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A man from Texas is facing charges in connection with a cold case out of St. Louis County.
Miguel Canizares, 56, from Spring, Texas, is charged with two counts of sodomy and one count of first-degree sexual abuse.
Police say the crime happened on October 5, 1992. A 14-year-old girl was walking home from Parkway North High School after she attended a soccer game. As she approached a wooded area near the school, police say Canizares grabbed her.
Canizares then allegedly pulled her into the woods, forced her to undress, assaulted her and threatened bodily harm. Police say he threatened the victim again before she ran off.
Authorities arrested Canizares in Sheanadoah, Texas on April 9. He is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
