Rapper and singer Sexyy Red sings alongside students during the SpringFest concert April 10, 2025, in Texas Hall.
A concert featuring Coco Jones, Lyn Lapid and Jack Freeman will conclude the second annual SpringFest at 8 p.m. Friday in Texas Hall.
Hosted by Student Activities, the event is meant to provide students an opportunity to take a breath, Student Activities coordinator Anthony Hawkins said. With the end of the semester coming up, he said, finals can be hectic, and the week of events for SpringFest is a way to celebrate.
Coco Jones, a Grammy-winning R&B singer, will perform alongside Jack Freeman, a Houston-based R&B artist, and Lyn Lapid, a rising indie pop artist.
While there is no guarantee there will not be issues, Hawkins said preparations have been put in place to ensure attendees will have a good time.
“[The] MC will get out there and do their best to try to make sure everything is smooth and mellow, there’s not too many issues, and once the artist is ready to perform, they’ll get on stage,” he said.
While the group plans for the event to sell out, tickets will be available until the day of, Hawkins said. The expected turnout is around 2,700 students.
Students can purchase up to two tickets for $6. Faculty and staff can purchase tickets for $16. Only clear bags and small clutches will be allowed inside the venue. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
“I think it’s a pretty well-developed concert for everybody to come and participate and enjoy,” he said.
