EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 16-year-old was arrested in connection with a shooting at an East El Paso park that shut down a high school on Monday.

According to the El Paso Police Department, a large fight broke out at Jim Crouch Park, previously known as Ponder Park, and as a result, one person ran to a car, pulled out a gun and fired into the air multiple times.

EPPD’s Gang Unit investigated the shooting and said it determined the suspect was the 16-year-old, and took them into custody and referred them to the Juvenile Probation Department.

As was reported on Monday, the shooting triggered a lockdown at Burges High School, which is nearby.

Luckily, no injuries were reported.
