The Parade of Ships is scheduled to begin around 7 a.m. Wednesday, when the vessels will enter Galveston Bay on their way to Houston.

As the ships move through the Houston Ship Channel, residents in Bay Area cities may be searching for viewing locations.

Here are some places people can head to with their binoculars to watch as ships parade by for Fleet Week.

Residents and visitors in Galveston will be able to watch the Parade of Ships as it moves through Galveston Bay from about 7 to 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to the city’s website.

Visitors can watch from several locations, including Seawolf Park, R.A. Apffel East Beach Park, Boddecker Road and the Galveston jetties.
Galveston advises visitors to arrive early because heavy traffic is expected during the morning hours.

Kemah Boardwalk, a popular destination, is among the places people can watch the vessels pass during the Parade of Ships.

The city of Kemah said there is no single best viewing spot, as visitors can watch from restaurants, hotels on the boardwalk and businesses in the Lighthouse District.

The San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site will be closed to the public Wednesday, but visitors can watch the ships pass from Seguin Park.

Seabrook is another city along the parade route, and Pine Gully Park is expected to be a popular viewing location, the city said.

“The ships are going to be at a distance, but that park has the best view of the parade route from Galveston,” the city of Seabrook said in an email.

La Porte residents and visitors may also watch the parade from Sylvan Beach. The city of La Porte said Sylvan Beach offers a view of the passing ships, but visitors may need binoculars.
