Its upcoming opponent, James Madison, is undefeated in the Sun Belt with a 6-1 overall record. The Dukes methodically grind down their opponents, always within reach thanks to a punishing ground attack and a stingy defense that’s only given up 13 touchdowns all season. Texas State will attempt to add a few more ticks to that number, as head coach GJ Kinne fields an offense that’s averaging 36.1 points per game.

While the Bobcats have been excellent at starting quickly, they’ve developed a bad habit of allowing an opponent to stick around long enough to mount a comeback. If they do that against the Dukes, who’ve twice overcome first-half deficits to win this season, the Bobcats could be in for a rough time.

Texas State’s chances of winning the Sun Belt are slim. However, a loss today would render those slim odds moot. Defeating JMU would be an excellent way of getting the Kinne’s program back on track as its final season in the Sun Belt comes to a close.
