A new face is coming to the airwaves of Austin as a meteorologist for KXAN News.

Hannah Gard announced last week that she would be joining KXAN, posting on Instagram that she was excited to be moving “close to family.”

“Everything is bigger in Texas, and so is this next adventure,” Gard wrote on Instagram. “I’m a Texas native, and I can’t wait to be back.”

Gard said she was “thrilled” to be joining an “incredibly talented” team covering Central Texas.

The University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology graduate will start with KXAN in May. She comes from WVUE FOX 8 in New Orleans and was formerly with CNN, KSWO 7 News and KKTV 11 News.

“The people I have met here and at FOX 8 have become family, and saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do,” Gard said in an earlier Instagram post, bidding goodbye to her prior post.

Gard will join Nick Bannin, Kristen Currie, Rich Segal, Freddy Vela, Tommy House and Jim Spencer on KXAN’s First Warning Weather team.
