EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) —

El Paso leaders are set to unveil plans for the city’s America 250 celebration, previewing a weeklong lineup of events that will run from late June through Independence Day in Downtown El Paso.
Destination El Paso, in partnership with the City of El Paso and Fort Bliss MWR, will make the announcement during a press conference at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026, in the Mt. Franklin Lobby at the El Paso Convention Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza.
Brooke Underwood, executive director of Visit El Paso, is scheduled to serve as emcee.
Renard U. Johnson, mayor of El Paso, and Curtis Taylor, commanding general of the 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, are also slated to speak.
Organizers said the announcement will preview a weeklong series of events beginning June 27 and culminating July 4 in Downtown El Paso, including a kickoff at Fort Bliss and a free Independence Day celebration at San Jacinto Plaza.
