1. Torchy’s Tacos now offering tacos, queso in Celina

Torchy’s Tacos is now open in Celina, according to a company representative.

The eatery’s menu features signature tacos, bowls, burritos, queso and more. Torchy’s also offers several drink options, such as frozen margaritas and sangria.

2. Puffy Cotton Candy serving up character-shaped treats

Harold and Courtney Polk have opened Puffy Cotton Candy inside Grapevine Mills.

According to the website, Puffy Cotton Candy is an innovative company centered around the experience of seeing cotton candy spun fresh in a store.

Employees design cotton candy characters such as a rainbow unicorn, puppy dog, cows, fox, hippo, duck, pigs and a new collaboration with Sonic the Hedgehog.

3. Burger Vault now offers handcrafted burgers, shakes in Keller

A Florida-based restaurant, Burger Vault, opened its first Texas location in Keller at the end of March.

Burger Vault provides handcrafted beef and chicken burgers, custom fries, hot dogs and milkshakes. Burger Vault had its soft opening in late March. The Keller location is one of three Burger Vault restaurants, with its first two locations in Tampa Bay, Florida, and Orlando, Florida.

4. Portillo’s sets opening date to serve Chicago fare in Frisco

Portillo’s is slated to open April 21 in Frisco, a company representative said.

The Portillo’s in Frisco will be a “Restaurant of the Future” design featuring a smaller footprint—approximately 6,250 square feet plus a 500-square-foot outdoor patio—which will offer seating for about 120 guests.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the estimated construction cost of the building is $6 million.

5. Bojangles sets opening date in Plano

Bojangles, a fast-food restaurant headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, is set to open a corporate-owned location April 21 in Plano, a company representative said.

The eatery’s menu features chicken tenders, fried and grilled chicken sandwiches, Bo’s chicken biscuit, egg and cheese biscuit, southern gravy biscuit and more.

This is the seventh corporate-owned store in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the representative said. Future locations are slated for Celina and Grand Prairie.

6. 1418 Coffee to open first Richardson location in Core District

1418 Coffee is set to open its first Richardson location in the city’s Core District in late summer, according to an announcement from owner David Bryant.

1418 Coffee serves a variety of specialty coffees and pastries. The coffee shop will take over the building formerly occupied by Isabelly’s Chocolates and Sweet Treats, which closed in 2023.
