Texas Tech has made some alterations to its 2027 football schedule.
The university announced Friday the cancellation of nonconference games against N.C. State and North Texas.
N.C. State officials notified Texas Tech in recent weeks that due to a change in ACC scheduling, it would utilize a buyout clause in the home-and-home agreement between the two schools to cancel the Wolfpack’s scheduled trip to Lubbock on Sept. 18, 2027. The two schools previously faced each other in Raleigh, N.C. in 2022 to open the two-game series.
In order to maintain a minimum of six home games, Texas Tech canceled its Sept. 11, 2027 trip to North Texas. Texas Tech is currently in the process of securing a replacement power conference opponent for the 2027 season, as well as another nonconference game to replace North Texas.
“We have actively been working on our 2027 football schedule for several weeks now and hope to have a new agreement with a power conference and FBS school finalized soon,” Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt said in a statement.
