LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) -A dramatic shift in the weather is underway across the South Plains as a cold front sets up to crash weekend temperatures.
Lows tonight(KCBD)
Overnight lows will drop into the 40s with a few 30s in the northwest around Muleshoe, Friona, and Dimmitt.
Tonight, a strong cold front will sweep south through the region, likely arriving in Lubbock around midnight.
Overnight cold front will bring a change in temperatures and gusty winds(KCBD)
Behind it, winds will shift sharply out of the north and ramp up fast, with gusts strong enough to kick up areas of blowing dust.
Saturday morning, winds will ease but expect breezy northeast winds to stick around most of the day.

Temperatures will be noticeably cooler compared to recent days, offering a bit of relief.
A warming trend will resume next week(KCBD)
A freeze watch is currently in effect for parts of the area Sunday morning.
Next week expect a gradual return to warmer, more active conditions.
