LSU baseball returns to action on Friday, hosting Texas A&M at Alex Box Stadium in Game 1 of a three-game set. It’s Game 39 of the year for Jay Johnson’s Tigers. Sitting at 23-15, LSU needs to start racking up the wins.

Last time out, LSU ended a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over Northwestern State. LSU sits No. 65 in the RPI rankings, meaning LSU has some work to do if it wants to make the NCAA Tournament. Texas A&M ranks top-15 in RPI, so LSU has a chance to make up some ground with a couple of wins this weekend.

Texas A&M is 28-7 on the year and 9-5 in conference play. The Aggies are a firm Omaha contender after a disappointing 2025 campaign. This year, it’s LSU falling short of expectations. The Tigers are just 6-9 in SEC play despite begining the season ranked No. 2 in most major polls.
