Texas A&M baseball set the tone in Baton Rouge, La., on Friday night, as the Aggies claimed a 10-4 win in the series opener against the LSU Tigers.
The Aggies scored 10 runs for the 18th time this season, four of which came from freshman outfielder Jorian Wilson, who mashed two opposite-field two-run homers in one of the most impressive performances from an Aggie hitter in 2026. After being named to Baseball America’s Week 9 National Team of the Week, Texas A&M first baseman Gavin Grahovac secured his 11th home run of the season against LSU in Game 1.
Shane Sdao struck out four and allowed six hits with two earned runs in 4.2 innings of work before Gavin Lyons replaced him on the mound for the Aggies. Lyons notched four strikeouts and allowed just one earned run in relief of Sdao. Right-hander Ethan Darden came in to close things out with two strikeouts for Texas A&M’s 10th win of SEC play.
Aiden Sims will start on the bump for Texas A&M and William Schmidt for LSU in Game 2. Entering the weekend, Sims boasts a 6-0 record and a 3.56 ERA with 51 strikeouts so far this season. Schmidt has struck out 63 hitters and has a 3.22 ERA with a 4-3 record for the Tigers.
Next up, the Aggies will aim to take their fourth consecutive SEC series win against LSU on Saturday night. First pitch against the Tigers is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and the matchup will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.

Every Aggie in the lineup made it on base in a 10-4 win over LSU in the series opener. Wilson blasted two opposite-field home runs and Grahovac had a solo shot, marking three total home runs in the contest for the Maroon and White against the Tigers. With the win, Texas A&M improves to 29-7 (10-5 in SEC play). Game 2 from Alex Box Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.
Wilson’s second home run of the contest is a two-run shot that puts the Aggies up by six in the ninth inning.
The Tigers score another on a sac-fly, but the Aggies get out of the inning. Three outs remain from a series-opening victory for the Maroon and White.
A throwing error on Partida scores a run for the Tigers. LSU has runners on second and third base with no outs.
Grahovac scores on a wild pitch to add another run to the Aggies’ lead. Texas A&M has runners on second and third base with two outs.
Texas A&M leaves a runner stranded in the seventh.
Lyons has two strikeouts and the Aggies remain in the lead entering the seventh.
Tell me if you’ve heard this one before… Grahovac’s solo home run puts the Aggies up by five in the sixth.
After striking out in his prior at-bats, Wilson bounces back with a two-run homer to extend the Aggies’ lead, 6-2, over LSU.
Arrambide’s RBI single adds a run for the Tigers in the fifth. Gavin Lyons is on the mound for the Aggies in place of Sdao, who finished the game with four strikeouts and two earned runs through 4.2 innings pitched.
Hacopian and Duer’s clutch singles score three runs for the Aggies to take the lead over the Tigers.
Duer’s two-RBI single extends Texas A&M’s lead to three runs in the fifth.
Hacopian’s RBI single gives Texas A&M a 2-1 lead in the fifth. The Aggies have runners on the corners with two outs.

The Tigers tie the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth.
Milam’s solo home run ties the game, 1-1, in the fourth.
Despite giving up a run in the third, Evans has done outstanding work on the mound for the Tigers. He is up to seven strikeouts through four innings against the Aggie lineup.
Three straight fly-outs from the Tigers end the inning. Texas A&M remains in front by a run entering the fourth.
Harrison’s lead-off walk got the Aggies started in the third. Kellner followed it with a single to advance Harrison to third, who scored on an RBI groundout from Sorrell. Texas A&M strikes first at Alex Box Stadium.
Sdao walks Pearson with two outs, but bounces back to close out the inning and leave another runner stranded. The Aggies and Tigers remain scoreless entering the third inning in Baton Rouge.
The Aggies go down in order in the second, as Evans brings his strikeout total to four through two innings on the bump.
Stanfield and Arrambide’s singles gave the Tigers runners on the corners, but Sdao leaves them stranded and closes out the first with two strikeouts.
Evans strikes out two and the Aggies leave Hacopian stranded on first to open the game. Sdao will aim to set the tone for Texas A&M on the mound in the home half of the first.
