Friends remember Deziree Combs as someone who brought light, laughter to everyone

  • October 29, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Deziree Comb’s personality and character was a light for her bosses and best friends, Spencer and Kaley Braziel.

Spencer said Deziree was someone you could always count on, no matter what.

“If something needed to be said to you, she would say it, she would encourage you,” Spencer said. “She would definitely make you laugh, if you were down, she would pick you up, whatever the situation called for, Dezi had it.”

Friends struggle with sudden loss

The Lubbock Police Department said Deziree and a man were riding a motorcycle around midnight on Oct. 15 when they lost control of the bike and were thrown off of it.

Deziree was seriously injured in the crash, and died two days later.

Kaley said it’s still hard to believe her best friend is gone.

“Yeah, shock is a great word to describe it, it was very surreal, I looked at that day like it was just one day without Dez,” Kaley said. “I mean I booked her appointments the next week, too.”

Mother urges helmet safety

Tasha Curtis, Deziree’s mom, said her daughter wasn’t wearing a helmet, and is now highlighting the importance of taking the proper safety steps.

“Please, please wear motorcycle helmets, because if she would have had it, it would have saved her life, we just have to be more careful,” Curtis said.

Holding your loved ones close

Kaley said no one is promised tomorrow. She encourages the community to hold tight to loved ones and to never take a moment for granted.

“Just stop fighting like I don’t know, don’t fight and always end it with I love you, I mean cause we do, we all love each other,” Kaley said. “She loved everybody and she’s knows how much everybody loved her and that’s how you should treat other people to.”

Deziree was a registered organ donor, and her death helped save the lives of more than a dozen people.

“She gave the gift of life to like twenty other people which is a very beautiful thing, I mean of course she did, of course she did.” Kaley said. “She keeps doing what we do, which is helping and loving others, and that was Dezi through and through.”

Deziree leaves behind her two kids, Malaki and Scarlett. Her family and friends will post how you can help them on the ‘Smooth Wax and Spa’ Facebook page in the coming days.
