FORT WORTH – Glenda Marie Parker passed away in her home on April 14, 2026 at the age of 91. She was surrounded by her loved ones and went peacefully in her sleep while holding hands with her husband, Fred Parker, of 75 years. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite C, 3344 White Settlement Road Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Funeral Service: 2 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2026, at University Christian Church, 2720 South University Drive Fort Worth, Texas 76109. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Glenda was born to George Adair Baldwin and Ruby Sue Hathcox Baldwin on September 11, 1934 in Fort Worth. She grew up with her sister, Paula, who was 9 years younger. They moved to San Francisco when her father was in the Navy. They returned to Fort Worth where her family made their permanent home. She enjoyed playing outside, piano and her love of learning. Growing up in the depression, Glenda learned to be resourceful and resilient. She was accomplished in so many ways. At age 16, she married Freddie Maurice Parker of Fort Worth at University Christian Church, where his parents, Fred Parker and Melba Parker had sung in the choir and his aunt, Q’zella Oliver Jeffus had been organist. Together they created a wonderful and rewarding life filled with the best of times and overcoming the hardest of challenges. Sharla was born May 1953; Ron came a year and half later in October 1955, and Steven in December, 1958. Fred learned his entrepreneurial skill from his grandparents, Roxie and Robert Oliver. Together, they created what eventually became the Fred Parker Company, their residential design and building firm. Glenda assumed the Vice President role in the company which they had as a family business, still thriving after 75 years later through the dedication of son, Ron, as the President and Partner. Glenda had many great health challenges throughout her life. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1982. She displayed courage, strength, and resilience over these years. She assumed the role of President of the MS society of Fort Worth and fought on the city, state and national level for the Disabilities Act for ADA regulations for the safety of physically challenged adults. Glenda was creative in all aspects of her life. She was a seamstress, quilter, painter, needle pointer and enjoyed playing piano until the very end of her life. She loved dancing with Fred in their years before her MS. She was such an inspiring mother and shared her wholehearted support and abiding friendship with her children. She has been described as “tough as nails” and beloved by all. She truly loved life. She is a beloved “Grammy” of her four granddaughters, Kristina and husband, Graham, Ellen and husband, Danny, Shannon and her husband, Jonathan, Adrienne and her husband, Aaron; grandsons, Aaron and his wife, Amberley; and grandson, Geoffrey. They have such fond memories of her making Halloween costumes, cookies, doll clothes, going to movies and dinners together and her Easter bunny cakes. For her 87th birthday, she was thrown a spa-themed bash. Her grandchildren compiled together a song “Our Grammy Makes the Best Things” celebrating her gentle, loving, fun, and creative spirit. Glenda was able to attend all graduations and weddings including her last trip in 2018 to Mendocino to celebrate her granddaughter Ellen’s wedding. She is adored by her five great-grandchildren, Daniel aged 13, Sophia aged 10, Olivia aged 5, Lena aged 2 from Sharla and Dan’s family in Colorado, and Hannah, aged 4 from her granddaughter, Shannon and husband, Jonathan. Glenda is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Lila Parker; her parents; and sister, Paula. She is survived by her husband, Fred Parker; children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and niece, Laura Ross Boelts and family; as well as, Jerry Ross and family; and beloved pups, Breelee and Balee.
