Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Dallas-Fort Worth say “ample moisture” burrowing up from the Gulf of Mexico is likely to impact a large swath of Texas, from Houston on up to the metroplex, starting Monday afternoon.
“This increased moisture will slowly move east through the day on Monday, while at the same time a shortwave disturbance is expected to move overhead,” wrote the NWS early Sunday morning. “The incoming lift and moisture will promote a blossoming of scattered showers starting off to our west in the morning, and will slowly spread east the rest of the day.”
In Houston, forecasters say “locally heavy rainfall” is possible on Monday, mostly starting late in the day and carrying into Tuesday. High temperatures for the Houston area will be around 70 degrees Monday and Tuesday, with overnight lows in the low 60s. The Dallas area may see showers moving in Monday night, with a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday. The Monday high in Dallas-Fort Worth is likely to be around 75, dropping to 68 on Monday. Overnight lows could go below 60 degrees.
Rain chances will stick around Wednesday in the Houston area; in fact, forecasters say there’s a 70 percent chance of showers Wednesday evening. The high temperature will climb toward 80. And looking even further … rain is in the forecast every day, though chances are lower several days out.
