EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A man was arrested after his father was found dead in San Antonio early this month.
Daniel Sebastian Ordonez, 31, is charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and failing to report human remains in connection to the death of his father, 54-year-old Daniel Antonio Ordonez.
Daniel Antonio Ordonez was a realtor from the DanO Group and was originally from El Paso.
Investigators say the victim was reported missing by a family member who lives out of town after seeing some “strange” activity on the victim’s phone and smart watch, which the family member had access to.
Police responded to a rental property owned by the victim using location data from the phone, where they found the device along with the victim’s keys buried in a plant pot in fresh soil, according to an affidavit.
Police also found one of the victim’s vehicles at the rear of the property with an apparent bullet hole on the driver’s side rear window.
Investigators searched the victim’s primary home in the 3100 block of Vera Cruz, where the victim’s son and wife also lived. There, they found a large black trash bag with apparent blood leaking from the bag.
Officers made a small hole in the bag to check what was inside and saw a deceased male, who was later identified as the victim, according to the affidavit. Investigators also saw apparent drag marks in blood on the ground near the body.

Using a latent bloodstain reagent, crime scene investigators found evidence that blood had been cleaned up both inside and outside of the home.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner determined the victim died from a gunshot wound to the head due to homicide, according to the affidavit.
Investigators obtained surveillance video and receipts, which showed Ordonez had purchased several items using the victim’s debit card at Walmart and Home Depot.
The items included cleaning supplies, duct tape, gloves, a shovel, concrete, and a “mummy” style sleeping bag, according to the affidavit.
Investigators believe Ordonez used these items to conceal evidence of the victim’s murder.
Additionally, investigators said Ordonez did not report his father’s death to law enforcement.
Ordonez was arrested on Thursday and is currently being held at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.
So far, he has not been charged with his father’s murder.
