El Paso Fire: South-Central fire considered arson
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A large Condition 4 structure fire in South-Central El Paso on Saturday night, April 18 was caused by arson, an El Paso Fire spokesman said.
The fire started at about 8 p.m. at 1314 Magoffin Avenue. Fire officials believe the fire started on the patio of a vacant home and spread to a second buidling, a vacant business.

The vacant home was destroyed and the second building, an abandoned business, was “significantly damaged,” the spokesman said. Both buildings were considered uninhabitable, and no one was in either, the spokesman said.
About 55 firefighers were on scene to battle the blaze. They had it under control within an hour but took several more hours to completely extinguish it, the spokesman said.
There were no injuries to any firefighters or civilians. No other buildings were affected.
The investigation continues.
