A top winery in the Texas Hill Country has filed plans to bring a new tasting room to Main Street in Fredericksburg this summer, just months after earning a spot on William Reed’s World’s 50 Best Vineyards List — a prestigious honor and a major first for the Lone Star State.
William Chris Vineyards in Hye, Texas, located 20 miles east of the “unofficial capital of the Texas Hill Country” recently registered a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), showing plans to begin a $400,000 renovation in May, converting an existing retail space into the new wine tasting room.
William Chris wines are known for their authentic, 100% Texas-grown wines, with labels like the Mary Ruth and a Bordeaux-style flagship blend called the Enchanté.
The winery was founded in 2008 by Chris Brundrett and Bill Blackmon. A representative for the winery was not immediately available for comment, but the new tasting room signals the brand’s growth.
Per the state filing, the 5,000-square-foot room is located at 101 E Main Street, Fredericksburg, TX 78624; construction work is expected to be complete by August 31, 2026, though all TDLR filings are subject to change at any time.
A quick search through the estate’s social media also reveals the winery is currently working on a tasting room in the historic Hye Post Office that it plans to open in May 2025.
This comes after news that another popular winery with Hye roots, Ron Yates, has recently expanded with a new tasting room, with a grand opening scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026.
