The free outdoor concert series, staged on the LBJ Lawn, will kick off game day early with a performance from Austin soul collective the Nightowls at 8:30 a.m. The Beach Boys are scheduled to perform shortly after the final whistle of the football game, which begins at 11 a.m.
The Beach Boys have brought a sunny blend of surf rock, harmonies and teenage daydreams for more than six decades. Their string of hits — from “Good Vibrations” to “God Only Knows” — helped define an era and earned them a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Even now, with founding member Mike Love still at the helm and Bruce Johnston in the lineup, the band continues to tour relentlessly, playing around 150 shows a year across the globe. Their creative force and sonic architect, Brian Wilson, died in June at age 82.
Fans can expect a festival-like setup, with food and drinks available throughout the day. Pinkerton’s Barbecue will serve brisket and ribs, while the Bulleit Frontier Lounge and Tito’s Tailgate offer shaded hangouts and cocktails for those 21 and older.
Admission to all Longhorn City Limits concerts is free, with gates opening at 8 a.m.
