The Longhorns will host Wisconsin in a power-packed nonconference match Sept. 13 at Moody Center, the Texas athletic department announced Monday. The date for ticket sales will be announced later. Texas plays all of its other home matches at Gregory Gymnasium, a cozy arena in the heart of the UT campus that seats approximately 4,000 fans.
Based on what happened last year, tickets will sell at a fast and furious pace. The first-ever volleyball match in Moody Center in 2025 drew a sellout 10,899 fans, which made it the largest crowd to ever watch a regular-season match in the state of Texas. The Longhorns didn’t disappoint with a wild 25-15, 25-23, 21-25, 13-25, 18-16 win over Stanford in a matchup between two national championship contenders.
This year’s match will feature similar stakes between two teams expected to rank in the preseason top 10. It also serves as a rematch of last season’s regional championship, which Wisconsin won 3-1 at Gregory Gymnasium to reach the Final Four.
Last year, the match against Stanford used the same seating configuration for basketball, which meant the upper deck remained closed. Officials have not yet said whether the upper deck will open for year’s match between Texas and Wisconsin.
The match against Wisconsin is part of a loaded nonconference schedule for the Longhorns. They also will face Louisville in the Sprouts Farmers Market Broadway Block Party Sept. 6 in Nashville, Tenn., and will play Nebraska, according to Cornhuskers coach Dani Busboom Kelly. Texas officials have not yet confirmed the match against Nebraska.
The Longhorns open the 2026 season at the AVCA First Serve in Milwaukee, part of a four-day showcase at Fiserv Forum. Texas will face Arizona State on Aug. 22 before taking on Marquette on Aug. 24.
