WACO, Texas – Another strong outing from Zack James and clutch hits throughout the lineup led to a 10-2 win over Baylor as TCU completed the doubleheader sweep Sunday. Preston Gamster homered as part of a three-hit game and drove in three.
The Rundown
Zack James (5-0) was once again a dominate force on the mound in turning in his third straight quality start. He allowed a run on six hits, walked two and struck out a career-high eight.
The offense back up the outing scoring early and often. A lead-off single from Jack Arthur in the first run for TCU as he scored on a Chase Brunson base hit. Back-to-back doubles from Rob Liddington and Preston Gamster in the second extended the lead to 2-0 after two.
Baylor cut the deficit in half in the fourth after the first two hitters reached to open the inning. James gave up a sacrifice fly and stranded the tying run at third with a strikeout to end the inning. TCU got the run back in the top of the fifth on a Cole Cramer sacrifice fly to make it a 3-1 ballgame.
TCU pushed its lead to 6-1 in the sixth. Jack Bell drove in the first run of the frame after Brady Dallimore led off the inning with a double. Gamster hit a two-run home run to cap off a three-run inning.
The Frogs put the game out of reach with a four spot in the ninth.With two on, Rob Liddington singled to make it a 7-1 ballgame. Cramer lined a single up the middle with two outs to drive in two more runs. The Frogs’ final run of the game came on an error.
Baylor scratched across a two-out run in the ninth to account for the final score.
