Texas might be home to the second-most Costco stores in the nation, but a rising city in North Texas is about to become just the third city in the Lone Star State to score a special development from the big box brand. Smack dab between Dallas and Fort Worth, a special type of Costco is taking shape.
Haltom City, a town of about 46,000 northeast of Fort Worth in Tarrant County, is set to open a Costco Business Center and Fuel Center next year. The city announced the development on Wednesday, April 15, as the latest addition to the revamped NE Loop 820 corridor, which is also expected to open an H Mart this September.
The Business Center, located at 4909 NE Loop 820, Haltom City, TX 76137, will feature an expanded selection of bulk items not regularly available at regular Costco warehouses, as well as “a specialized selection of professional-grade kitchenware and industrial supplies,” Haltom City shared in a news release. “It will also have the regular big bulk items Costco is known for, but shoppers will be able to find a few more goodies at the specialty store.
“This is a tremendous win for Haltom City and for the entire region,” City Manager Rex Phelps said in the release. “Our Council and staff have worked diligently over the past year to bring this project across the finish line. Costco’s decision to invest here reflects the momentum building in our community and the strength of Haltom City as a destination for business.”
This will be the third Costco Business Center in Texas, following the stores at 12717 Network Drive in Stafford and 8282 Park Lane in Dallas. The latter store is about 36 miles east of the upcoming Haltom City location.
Haltom City expects the Costco to open in early 2027, creating more than 100 jobs for the community.
Shoppers do not need a new membership to enter a Costco Business Center, but there are benefits to choosing one over the other. A Business Center will have the same items as a regular Costco, but it will also offer some added perks.
Costco Business Centers open at 7 a.m., three hours earlier than a Costco Warehouse’s 10 a.m. opening. They host regular savings events, provide catering services, offer a wider selection of drinks, and give shoppers opportunities to stock up on sweets and snacks, as well as to shop for specialty items not found at an average Costco.
