AUSTIN (KXAN) — Westlake senior guard Bo Ogden was named the best basketball player in Texas by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, the organization announced Monday.

Ogden earned the Mr. Basketball honor after averaging 22 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for the Chaparrals in his senior season, helping propel them to the UIL 6A-Division II championship game. He shot 40% from 3-point range and 84% from the foul line in his one year with Westlake after transferring from St. Michael’s Prep in Austin.

While a junior at St. Michael’s in 2024, he hit the game-winning shot to give the Warriors a TAAPS 6A title over powerhouse Dallas Parish Episcopal 50-48.
He’s also a gold medalist with USA Basketball. He was on the 3×3 Men’s U18 National Team that won the FIBA U18 World Cup in August 2024.
Ogden signed with Texas and head coach Sean Miller in November after receiving offers from several big programs like Kansas, Purdue, Tennessee and Virginia, among others. Ogden,’s father, Chris, played for Texas and is the Longhorns’ general manager.

He’s considered the fourth-best recruit in Texas for the 2026 class and a 4-star recruit by 247Sports. Ogden is part of the No. 1-ranked 2026 recruiting class that Miller has assembled with four incoming freshmen and four transfers.
