Hopeful anticipation buzzed in the air at Brazos Park on Tuesday evening as students awaited election results during Student Government’s Party After the Polls.

The biannual event announces campus election results, including fall’s at-large roles. This semester, students voted on Homecoming royalty, UTA Ambassadors and student senators.

Emman Khan, College of Science senator, stood in quiet nervousness, waiting to hear election results.

“Once I heard my name get called, all those nerves just went away, and I was filled with excitement instead,” Khan said.

She said she wants people on campus to know she isn’t someone who only represents the College of Science, but students as a whole.

“People see that certain colleges only care about the students of their college, but in reality, we care about everyone, not just them,” Khan said. “So I really want to put that forward.

Adil Mustahsan, surrounded by friends, secured a position as a UTA Ambassador and College of Business senator.

Mustahsan said he ran for UTA Ambassador to represent the campus, and for senator to make a difference and bring in opportunities for the College of Business, such as scholarship opportunities and increased funding for clubs within the college.

“I wanted to make a better environment so that the students are more job ready,” he said.

As Alexandria Mitchell, Student Government chief justice, read down the list of winning candidates, cheers and claps from newly elected senators and UTA Ambassadors and their supporters echoed through Brazos Park.
