Early voting for the Arlington general election begins today, with multiple City Council seats, the highly contested mayor’s seat, and several propositions on the ballot.
Here is what Arlington residents should know before making their way to the polls:
What you need:
Voters need to bring to the polls one of seven types of valid photo ID to vote in Texas:
A state driver’s license (issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety).
A Texas election identification certificate (issued by DPS).
A Texas personal identification card (issued by DPS).
A Texas license to carry a handgun (issued by DPS).
A U.S. military ID card with a personal photo.
A U.S. citizenship certificate with a personal photo.
A U.S. passport.
If you are an Arlington voter aged 18-69 and your ID has expired, you can still use it to vote as long as it expired no more than four years before its expiration date. Voters age 70 and older may present an expired ID of any length of time.
If you do not have any of the approved forms of ID, you can still vote by filling out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration at your local polling site.
In this form, voters will note the reason as to why you do not have an approved ID showing a form of photo identification, and can provide one of the following supporting forms of identification:
A copy or original certified domestic birth certificate or court-admissible birth document.
A copy or original of a current utility bill.
A copy or original bank statement.
A copy or original government check.
A copy or original paycheck.
Any copy or original government document with your name and address, including your voter registration certificate.
Arlington voters with a disability can apply for a permanent exemption with their county voter registrar, more than 30 days before an upcoming election. For more information on voter exemptions, click here. If you did not register within the 30 days, you may be required to vote by filing a Reasonable Impediment Declaration. Curbside voting is also available throughout early voting and on election day.

When you can vote:
Early voting starts April 20 and runs through April 28th.
April 20: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
April 21: Voting is closed for San Jacinto Day
April 22-24: 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
April 25: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
April 26: 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.
April 27-28: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Election day is May 2.
Where can you vote:
Arlington will have six polling locations for early voting:
Activ Center.
Bob Duncan Center.
City of Arlington South Service Center.
Elzie Odom Athletic Center.
Tarrant County Subcourthouse.
Tarrant County Southeast Campus EMBD 1105.
Also, the city’s Via and Handitran services will offer free, round-trip rides to voters to and from the polls. For more information, click here.

City Council District 3
City Council District 4
City Council District 5
City Council District 8
Arlington ISD School Board Place 6
Arlington ISD School Board Place 7
The mayor, City Council District 8 and school board races will appear on all ballots. Those who live in City Council Districts 3, 4 and 5 will be able to vote on their race. To check which City Council district you live in, click here.
