Counter Culture had a previous food trailer, which opened in 2009, and later a brick and mortar, before Davis closed the location to build a purposeful space, according to its website.

The restaurant’s crew is currently renovating an older building in Windsor Park with help from Havens Construction and Weiss Architecture, Davis said.
“We are transforming it into a mid-century-inspired vegan diner,” Davis explained.
Final takeaways
According to a Kickstarter page, construction costs have piled up and Counter Culture is now turning to the community to help open its doors sooner. So far, 270 backers have raised over $35,000 of the $45,000 goal.
“Your support means we open sooner. It means we hire from this community,” the Kickstarter states. “It means there’s one more table in Austin where everyone is welcome.”
