Lubbock Meals on Wheels seeks volunteer drivers for new routes

  • April 21, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Meals on Wheels will add three new routes May 4 to help meet growing demand for its services.

The organization is serving more than 1,100 people each day and delivering 310 more meals daily than it did in 2025. The expansion requires additional volunteer delivery drivers.

Volunteers will help reach homebound, elderly and disabled clients throughout Lubbock and Wolfforth.

Meals are picked up on weekdays between 10:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Most routes take about one hour to complete. Volunteers do not need to commit to a regular schedule.

Those interested can apply at lubbockmealsonwheels.org/volunteer.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels is a private, nonprofit organization that prepares and delivers hot, nutritious meals to people who are homebound, elderly or disabled. The organization began serving Lubbock in 1971.

With help from 1,800 volunteers, more than 400,000 meals were delivered in 2025.

Beginning May 4, the organization will deliver 80 routes in Lubbock and Wolfforth. It receives no government funding and is not a United Way agency.
