McHugh takes over as the Buccaneers’ Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator after one season in Bishop.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CCISD has named David McHugh as the next Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator for the Miller Buccaneers.
McHugh comes over after serving as the Bishop Badgers’ Head Coach last season. The first-year head coach lead the Badgers to a 5-6 record and a playoff appearance.
He’ll take over for Justen Evans, who left earlier this year to take the job at Denton Braswell after finishing with the most wins in Miller history. McHugh has a connection to the Buccaneers as his brother Matthew was the Bucs’ offensive coordinator under Evans in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
McHugh will look to navigate Miller’s drop down to Class 4A. His first season will see the Bucs enter a new district alongside CCISD rivals Moody and King, in addition to Calallen, Tuloso-Midway, Beeville Jones and Port Lavaca Calhoun.
