Break out the sweaters — Wednesday is expected to be the coldest day of Dallas-Fort Worth’s current cold snap.
The temperature is expected to drop down to 48 degrees just after sunrise, but it should feel even colder. The wind chill, or how cold it feels to a person, is expected to be in the lower 40s, going as low as 41 degrees.
Temperatures should be in the 50s for most of the day, the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office said, with an afternoon high of 62 degrees. That’s 11 degrees lower than the usual high for the end of October.
The bigger threat Wednesday should be the wind. The strong gusts started Tuesday, knocking out power at a DISD school and for thousands of other customers. North Texas is under a wind advisory, which warns of gusts up to 45 miles per hour.

The advisory also includes east and central Texas, Arkansas, most of Oklahoma and the western side of Louisiana. On top of the gusts, sustained winds should be 20-30 miles per hour until the advisory ends Wednesday evening.
