Texas Tech Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine students will host Women’s Health Day on Saturday (May 2) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Free Clinic located at Lubbock Impact, 2702 34th St.
Women’s Health Day will provide essential medical services at no cost to women between the ages of 18 and 64 who have no form of medical coverage such as insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. Eligible individuals are encouraged to attend to receive preventive health screenings such as Pap smears, breast exams, pelvic exams, STI testing, mammogram referrals, colposcopy referrals and more.
“The goal of Women’s Health Day is to ensure that every woman who walks through our doors feels seen, supported, and cared for,” Bianca Punzalan, Women’s Health Coordinator for the Free Clinic, said.
For many women who have little to no insurance, accessing affordable health care can be challenging. Women’s Health Day aims to bridge this gap by offering free exams and referrals. Regular screenings can prevent serious illnesses and health conditions when caught early.
“By offering no-cost services such as Pap smears, mammograms, breast and pelvic exams and STI testing on a Saturday, we aim to make it easier for women who may not have insurance to receive important care they might otherwise delay due to cost or time constraints,” Punzalan said.
Appointments are required for this event. Those interested should call (806) 799-4329 on Wednesdays from 4 to 9 p.m. to speak with clinic staff. For other days and times, please call (806) 370-7472.
“While appointment availability for Women’s Health Day is limited, we offer the same services at The Free Clinic every Wednesday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis,” said Punzalan. “We will also be providing free women’s hygiene kits on Women’s Health Day for those who are unable to make an appointment with us.”
