EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The University of Texas at El Paso’s Office of Special Events unveiled a guideline for times, parking and other event logistics for one of the largest weekends in El Paso, from May 2 and May 3, during a media roundtable for the Sun Bowl.

One of the biggest musical acts will perform for the first time at the Sun Bowl: the K-pop group BTS. Here’s the guide breakdown for all your questions and concerns for the hectic weekend!

Sun Bowl Opening Timeline

For both days at the Sun Bowl, VIP entry starts at 10 a.m., with general admission starting at 5:30 p.m.

Once the doors are open, official BTS merch booths will be available at 9 a.m., and VIP package holders can check in from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

VIP sound check starts at 10 a.m. and general ticket holders can start lining up at 3:30 p.m. It was noted by UTEP officials that camping is not allowed.

The show kicks off at 8 p.m. and is expected to end at around 11 p.m.

Stay off the Mountain

UTEP officials are warning residents to stay off the mountain for BTS’s show and will be posting “no trespassing” signs in the area. Those found on the mountain could be slapped with a $500 fine and up to a year in jail.

Parking

Parking will open at 8 a.m. and parking passes will not be sold ahead of time, only on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parking will be $40, and any parking passes bought before the event will not be honored.

Additionally, there will be plenty of ADA parking available as well, according to UTEP officials. ADA parking will be available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis as well.

ADA pick-up and drop off will be located at Right South Glory Road 2 Parking Lot, next to Memorial Gym.

The inner campus observes regular business hours on the event days due to classes and UTEP’s daily businesses. During the BTS show, the inner campus will have restricted parking during the following times: From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Rideshare

For those pulling into the event through Uber and other rideshare services, guests will be using the SB11 Parking Lot on 3333 N. Mesa Street and Kern Dr.

It was highlighted that UTEP officials highly recommend using public transportation towards Downtown with road closures around the area.

El Paso Streetcar

Rides are free! Services will be extended until midnight on May 2 and May 3. You can track the Streetcar using the Ride Sun Metro App.

Sun Metro buses

Park Downtown and find a metered spot, lots and garages through the app or at www.park915.com.

Entrances

UTEP will have the following five separate entrances for the event:

Main North Gate, located close to Glory Rd.

Used for all ticket access, ADA accessible and VIP check-in. As well as a BTS official merch booth will be here.

Noted that this gate has the largest queuing area for quicker entry

West Gate, off of Sun Bowl Dr.

Only for premium ticket holder access for those available with the Outdoor Club, the Hunt Family Sky Lounge, and Loge Boxes. ADA accessible.

South Gate, on the opposite side of the jumbo screen

All ticket access, stairs only

South West Gate, on the opposite side of the jumbo screen

Prior to lining up at the gate, there will be security checkpoints at each gate.

Prohibited Items

Here’s a list of prohibited items that will not be allowed into the Sun Bowl:

For guests arriving with prohibited items, there will be a designated donation bin at the North Gate GR2 South Parking Lot and South Gate Miner Alley. All surrendered items will be collected by a located charity partner.

Additionally, UTEP officials say that guests must throw the prohibited items in the bins, trash or return them to their vehicle.

Fan Plaza

UTEP will hold a dedicated space for ARMY at Glory Field and South GR2 Parking Lot, which will be open to all fans from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Fan Plaza will have food trucks, beverages and activities that fans can take part in before the big show.
