EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso Water crews responded Tuesday night to a wastewater overflow on Ramada Drive, officials said.

The utility said the incident was not caused by a wastewater line break. Crews cleaned and disinfected the area.

After investigating, crews determined the overflow was caused by an accumulation of rags and wipes inside the wastewater line.

El Paso Water urged customers to flush only toilet paper and to avoid flushing wipes, even those labeled “flushable.”

The utility said wipes, hair, cotton swabs, paper towels and other household products can clog pipes and lead to wastewater overflows.
