A 68-year-old man was killed Tuesday night after he was struck by a car as he tried to cross South Cooper Street in Arlington, according to the Arlington Police Department.

Officers responded about 9 p.m. to the intersection of South Cooper Street and Lovers Lane after reports of an auto-pedestrian crash, police said.
Police found the man unresponsive near the roadway and took him to a hospital, where he later died, according to the department.

The man was crossing Cooper Street from west to east when he was hit by a northbound 2015 Toyota Avalon, investigators said. There is no designated crosswalk at that location, according to police.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. He is not facing criminal charges.

Officers at the scene were told by the driver that he did not see the man before the collision, according to police. The pedestrian was not wearing bright or reflective clothing at the time, investigators said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man, according to police.

Police reminded pedestrians to use marked crosswalks or traffic signals, especially at night when visibility is reduced.
