EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Two people were arrested in West El Paso on Tuesday in connection with a deadly shooting from a road rage incident in Albuquerque.
According to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, an innocent bystander died after a shooting tied to an apparent road rage exchange of gunfire in southwest Albuquerque.
The sheriff’s office said the shooting happened on Saturday.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Roberto Carlos Pineda Arriaza.
Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office identified Rory Horowitz as the primary suspect and Ellyssa Salazar as a second suspect connected to the case.
With assistance from the United States Marshals Service, the El Paso Police Department and other Texas law enforcement partners, investigators located Horowitz and Salazar at a residence in El Paso, Texas, and took them into custody.
Horowitz was initially wanted on charges including shooting at or from a motor vehicle causing great bodily harm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, officials said.
Salazar was arrested on charges including tampering with evidence and harboring a fugitive.
Detectives are now seeking an amended warrant for Horowitz to include an open count of murder.

Investigators said Pineda Arriaza was not involved in the exchange of gunfire and was struck as two vehicles were shooting at each other.
Detectives identified one of the vehicles involved as a Mitsubishi registered to Salazar and said they developed evidence identifying Horowitz as the shooter.
The arrest warrant affidavit states witnesses described the shooter, linked him to the Mitsubishi, and tied additional evidence back to Horowitz during the investigation.
The sheriff’s office said the extradition process is underway to return both suspects to New Mexico in coordination with the District Attorney’s Office.
Deputies said another individual associated with the second suspected vehicle involved in the road rage incident was arrested separately by the Albuquerque Police Department on charges including aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer and reckless driving.
Investigators said they have not developed evidence showing that person fired any rounds during the incident, and the person has not been charged in connection with the homicide or aggravated battery.
The Mitsubishi identified in BCSO’s original release has still not been located, and detectives said they are continuing to search for it.
