RICHARDSON, Texas (April 22, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University claimed a pair of Lone Star Conference Softball weekly honors, as Kadin Vire was named Hitter of the Week and Alexis Pacheco earned Freshman of the Week recognition, the league office announced Wednesday.

The honors mark the first career weekly awards for both Vire and Pacheco and represent LCU’s third and fourth conference accolades this season. Vire becomes the first Lady Chaparral to receive Hitter of the Week honors in 2026, while Pacheco adds to the program’s weekly award haul after Natalee Gray (Pitcher of the Week, Feb. 17) and Alexis Clark (Freshman of the Week, Feb. 24) were previously recognized.

Vire, a junior from Waxahachie, Texas, powered LCU to a 4-0 week in conference play with a dominant offensive showing. She hit .636 (7-for-11) with five runs scored, four extra-base hits and a 1.273 slugging percentage while reaching base at a .714 clip. Vire recorded multiple hits in three of four games and extended her on-base streak to eight consecutive contests. Batting in the No. 2 spot, she consistently set the tone for the Lady Chaps, highlighted by a 4-for-5 performance in a doubleheader sweep of Texas A&M International that included a triple, home run, four RBI and three runs scored.

Pacheco, a freshman from Las Vegas, N.M., delivered a standout week at the plate, hitting .500 (6-for-12) with two home runs, seven RBI and a 1.167 slugging percentage. She recorded hits in three of four games and came through in key situations, batting .556 with runners on base and driving in runs in three contests. Pacheco produced a three-RBI effort in a comeback win over Texas A&M-Kingsville and homered in both games of a doubleheader sweep of Texas A&M International, finishing the week with four two-out RBI.

The duo played a pivotal role in LCU’s offensive surge, as the Lady Chaps scored 35 runs across the four-game sweep, which had LCU move into sixth place in the LSC standings with a 19-13 conference mark (23-19 overall).

In addition to the weekly honors, Lubbock Christian was included in the NCAA Division II South Central Region’s initial ranking release Wednesday. The opening poll lists teams alphabetically, with the first set of ranked positions scheduled to be unveiled next week. The final rankings following the Lone Star Conference Championships will determine the eight-team field for the NCAA South Central Regional.

LCU returns to action Friday with a road doubleheader against No. 13 Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
