HOUSTON — A beloved Upper Kirby Mexican restaurant says it is closing for real this time.
The owner of Picos, Arnaldo Richards, said in a post on social media Wednesday that it will close August 30. He said he explored every option to stay open, but a group planning to build a high rise has acquired the property.
Richards said this is not a farewell, rather a transition, and the team is working to secure a new location for the restaurant.
He shared a message with his customers.
“To everyone who has shared a meal, created memories, celebrated a milestone, or supported us over the past 42 years, our family an staff thank you for your patronage for all these years,” he said in the post.
The restaurant has been at the Kirby location for more than 12 years.
