SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man accused of attacking a woman and her 3-year-old daughter is facing multiple charges.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, Atharva Vyas, 24, came out of the woods at Espada Park on Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m. Witnesses tell investigators he started punching Gabriella Perez, 27, while also grabbing her hair. As this was happening, police say Vyas also attacked Perez’s young daughter, and it is reported the child suffered bite wounds to the face.

When officers arrived in the 1700 block of Southeast Military Drive, Vyas was being restrained by a bystander who saw what happened.

Vyas is believed to be a stranger to the victims, and there is no word on what led to the attack.

Vyas is now charged with aggravated assault and assault bodily injury.
