HOUSTON — It’s only the second iteration of the Michelin Guide Texas, and the state has already added to its hefty amount of stars and distinctions. From a few newcomers to lots of familiar faces, here are the winners featured in this year’s guide.

The ceremony, held at the Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston on Tuesday, saw three new restaurants earn a coveted Michelin Star. Mamani, a French contemporary spot in Dallas, brought home the city’s second-ever Star, while the other two went to San Antonio’s Isidore and Nicōsi.

Two new restaurants were honored with a Green Star for their commitment to sustainable cuisine: Nixta Taqueria in Austin and Isidore. Nixta sources hyper-local ingredients, with the only imported item being its heirloom corn sourced from a family farm in Oaxaca. Isidore gets its meat and seafood from local ranches and the Gulf, while its produce comes from small, independent Texas farms.

The Bib Gourmand distinction, given to spots with quality food at a moderate price, was awarded to eight new Texas restaurants, including:

Annam – Houston
ChòpnBlọk – Houston
de Gama Canteen – Houston
Maximo – Houston
Mercado Sin Nombre – Austin
Mezquite – San Antonio
Papalo Taqueria – Houston
Parish Barbecue – Austin

Special awards were also presented to four individuals, including:

Chuck Charnichart (Barbs B Q, Lockhart) – Michelin Young Chef/Culinary Professional Award
Chas Martin (Mister Charles, Dallas) – Michelin Exceptional Cocktails Award
Elliot Wood (Credence, Houston) – Michelin Outstanding Service Award
Celia Pellegrini (Este/Suerte, Austin) – Michelin Sommelier Award
