LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday for much of the forecast area, with a Rangeland Fire Danger Statement also issued for the same time period. The combination of warm temperatures, low humidity and breezy west-southwest winds will create critical fire weather conditions.

While winds are expected to stay below advisory criteria, gusts to 40 mph are possible during the afternoon hours over the northern portion of the viewing area.

Highs Thursday will range from the mid-80s in the northwest to the mid-90s off the Caprock under mostly sunny skies.
