ARLINGTON, Texas — Crime rates in Arlington have decreased for the fourth year in a row, according to the Arlington Police Department’s 2025 Annual Report.
The report, released by the Arlington Police Department, highlights a 12 percent overall reduction in crime from the previous year. This includes a 14 percent decrease in Crimes Against Persons, such as assault and homicide, and an 18 percent decrease in Crimes Against Property, including burglary and theft.
The department has also partnered with the University of Texas at Arlington to launch a program aimed at solving cold cases. Criminal justice and forensics students review unsolved homicide case files and report potential leads to detectives. This initiative is praised as mutually beneficial, providing the department with additional resources and students with practical experience.
In alignment with its strategic plan, the department has invested in technology to enhance officer effectiveness. In 2025, the department received a special FAA waiver to fly drones beyond visual line of sight, expanding its Drone as a First Responder program. This allows certified pilots to remotely operate drones from strategic locations, providing real-time intelligence to officers.
