A 21-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a Fort Worth shooting on Oct. 11.

Malachi Calvon Hansard died from a gunshot wound to the back at about 6:49 p.m. on Oct. 11, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Fort Worth police said they found the man after reports of a shooting in the 2700 block of Woodmont Trail.

Police learned he was the passenger inside a car driving near the intersection of the 6500 block of Brookhaven Trail and Altamesa Boulevard when someone in an unknown vehicle fired multiple rounds at the car.

He was shot as the suspect fled and died at the location, police said.

Police issued an arrest-warrant affidavit for a suspect on Oct. 12 using video surveillance footage.

According to the affidavit, the suspect drove a red 2025 Hyundai Tucson, which was traveling southbound with the window open when it passed the traffic camera after the shooting.

The suspect denied being in the car or shooting the victim, according to the affidavit.
