EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso native Desirae Spearman hit two home runs to lead the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 16-0 victory over the UTEP Miners in game one of a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Then in game two, the Red Raider dominance would continue with an 11-1 victory.
In game one, Spearman hit her first home run in an eight-run second inning. Her second homer would come in the fifth inning to make it 16-0.
Texas Tech pitchers Nijaree Canady and Kaitlyn Terry would hold the Miners to only one hit, as the Red Raiders would take the game in five innings.
In the second game, Texas Tech got off to another hot start with a nine-run first inning. UTEP was once again held to only one hit, but the Miners would get on the board in the fourth inning. Paige Lassiter drove in Cece Marquez with a sacrifice fly.
UTEP returns to action on Friday, kicking off its final home series of the regular season against Missouri State.
