SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The threat of wildfires is elevated across most of South Central Texas on Wednesday, and this has triggered a Red Flag Warning from 2 p.m. through 7 p.m.
A cold front passed through the region Tuesday, which has brought forth cool, dry conditions accompanied by windy conditions that could cause a small fire outdoors to spread quickly.
In addition to the Red Flag Warning, the National Weather Service is leaving a Wind Advisory in place through 7 p.m. Wednesday.
What to know:
North to northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph through Wednesday afternoon.
Minimum relative humidity values to fall between 15-20% during Wednesday afternoon.
Critical fire weather conditions from late morning Wednesday through afternoon with the combination of the gusty winds and low humidity.
Fuels are above normal to near normal moisture, but due to the strong wind and low humidity, near critical fire weather conditions are still forecast for locations outside of the Red Flag Warning where a Fire Danger Statement has been issued.
Any fires that develop could be difficult to control and spread rapidly.
Avoid any outdoor activities that could inadvertently cause wildfires.
Stay tuned to 550 KTSA and FM 107.1 for the latest weather conditions.
