Whitley Penn announced on Wednesday that Brandt Schaars has returned to the firm as managing director in its Deal Advisory practice.
Schaars rejoins the firm following his tenure as a venture-backed SaaS CFO, where he led a successful sale to a private equity group.
He has more than 15 years’ experience advising private equity firms and corporate stakeholders on buy-side and sell-side transactions, diligence, and post-acquisition integration, according to a press release. He has helped organizations scale recurring revenue, improve unit economics, and execute successful exits.
“Brandt’s extensive background in financial leadership with public, private and private equity backed companies within a variety of different industries, brings valuable experience to our Deal Advisory practice,” said Daniel Boarder, Whitley Penn Deal Advisory partner, in a statement. “His experience advising on complex transactions and driving strategic growth aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering impactful solutions for our clients.”
Schaars has advised on transactions ranging from $5 million to $100 million, supporting private equity sponsors, venture capital firms, and executive teams with pricing strategy, operational efficiency, and scalable finance functions. His experience spans financial planning & analysis, audit readiness, compliance, and strategic planning across multiple industries.
Schaars earned bachelor’s in accounting and a master’s in taxation from Baylor. He is a frequent contributor to financial strategy discussions within the investment and advisory community.
“In today’s fast-paced deal environment, clients need advisers who can combine strategic insight with practical execution,” said Schaars. “Whitley Penn offers that balance, and I’m looking forward to helping our clients unlock value at every stage of the transaction.”
