Corpus Christi police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting at a shopping center on South Staples Street on April 23.

Police officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of South Staples Street at 5:38 p.m. in reference to a shooting, according to an online post by the police department.

Officers found an adult man with a gunshot wound and began administering first aid. Medics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The police department announced April 24 that Sebastian Carrillo Sosa, 19, was taken into custody on charges of murder and unlawfully carrying of a weapon. As of April 24, Carrillo Sosa remained in the Nueces County Jail with his total bond amounts at $255,000, according to jail records.

Preliminary investigation by detectives suggested that a possible robbery had occurred and a weapon was produced.

As of April 24, the victim had not been identified. Officers said the shooting was an isolated incident and the investigation is active.
