The region’s ongoing water crisis is top of mind for Nueces County Water Control and Improvement District No. 4.
The water district’s Board of Directors has called a special meeting, to be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, to discuss the potential acquisition of an alternate source of water for the district.
As previously reported, the district held a workshop on Thursday, April 16, during which representatives from the Seven Seas Water Group gave a presentation on how the company could help establish that alternative water source with groundwater wells and a brackish water desalination plant.
During the special April 30 meeting, which will be held at the district’s office at 200 Howard Blvd., the board will also discuss and take possible action on updating the water district’s drought contingency plan, following similar actions by the City of Corpus Christi earlier this week.
The board will also hold a public hearing on the proposed changes to its wastewater capital impact plan and fees, which was reported on in the March 12 edition of the South Jetty.
