Animals can sometimes be as famous as people and some of the most famous horses in the world recently took a stroll around downtown El Paso.

Everybody knows Eddie, the Jack Russel terrier from Frasier right? How could anybody forget Cujo? Famous dogs indeed but a much bigger animal star just hit El Paso.

Thanks to a couple of big anniversaries, the legendary Budweiser Clydesdales just came to visit.

Budweiser has their “dream team” on tour these days to commemorate their 150th anniversary and they made a stop in El Paso to celebrate a local legends 70th.

Famous El Paso Bar Turns 70

An iconic El Paso bar, a tourist must see and the ultimate dive bar, The Tap, is 70 years old. Located at 408 E. San Antonio, The Tap has been serving cold brew, tasty drinks and some amazing Mexican food for 7 decades and shows no signs of slowing down.

Budweiser is twice as old and they’re not slowing down either. Jeez, if anything, they’re picking up speed. Over the years, they have introduced us to some iconic animal characters. Remember Spuds McKenzie?

Spuds was short lived but the Dalmatians have been around for quite a while now. On TV, they help the Clydesdales. In real life, they do something much more important. They guard the beer.

And, of course, those legendary, beautiful … not to mention freakin’ HUGE … Clydesdales. The ‘Clyde’s and the Dal’s have starred in some of the most epic commercials ever.

They … and the Dalmatian too … paid a visit to The Tap to wish them a happy anniversary and then did a little sightseeing around downtown to the delight of a pretty big crowd.

They even brought gifts … lots of Budweiser swag and some really cool stuffed Clydesdales for the young ‘uns. (Given, of course, to their parents.) Some of those adults though, I didn’t see any kids with … just sayin’.

Happy anniversary to Bud and The Tap. Here’s to many more years of ice cold beer and sizzlin’ hot Mexican food. This Bud is actually for you two.
